This is a free illustration of a simple wooden dresser. We’ve also included a version with blood—because who hasn’t painfully stubbed their pinky toe on one?

Believe it or not, there’s a scientific explanation behind this relatable misfortune. Dressers often lie outside our direct line of sight, so our brains tend to ignore their presence. Meanwhile, the pinky toe has fewer sensory nerves and weaker spatial awareness than other toes, making it harder to judge distance. On top of that, it’s thinner and more fragile—so when it hits a sharp corner, the pain feels especially intense.

Still, this doesn’t have to be your fate. Painting corners in bright colors, using soft padding, or wearing socks can help. But no matter the prevention, the pain always feels personal. Let’s learn to coexist with dresser corners.
